How To Cool Down Your Kitten

Do you have the same concern as I do?
We live in a country where it is summer all year round and it can get pretty humid! I have always wondered how Meuw can take all that heat under his long fur coat. I have seen a number of pet owners shave their long haired pets a couple of times a year, during summer months, to keep their pets cool. However, since it is always summer time in Singapore, it is quite silly to shave Meuw all the time. The only time we tried shaving him was when he was plagued with fungal infection and it was a huge challenge. He was so afraid of the shaver, we had to use the scissors to trim his fur off slowly over a period of time when he was in deep sleep. I certainly do not want to go through that again.
I did some reading online and to my amazement, the fur cats have is very beneficial to them to regulate their body temperature. It protects them from both the cold and the blazing heat; even for long haired cats. The double layer fur coat long haired cats have traps cold air and keeps them cool, so it is actually better for them to keep their original coats of fur!
However, being overly sensitive, I still went around searching for some additional steps I can take to keep my little kitten cool during the humid weather. Meuw pants all the time after a vigorous play session. One day, I decided to get some ice for him and see if he likes it or not (I got that idea from the youtubers - Chris & Eve). Much to my dismay, he did not lick the ice immediately nor show great interest in it. But from then on, everytime when I bring some ice out after a play session, he will chill by the cool steel bowl and place his chin over the ice as if to enjoy the cool air that is dispersed from the ice. I have seen some people making cat popsicles (catsicles) for their cats and they really enjoyed it!
I will film Meuw when I feed him some catsicles! Till then! xoxo
