The amount of tissue boxes and toilet rolls have been accumulating so much over the past months that it is an eyesore having it in the house but also a pity to throw them away after having kept them for such a long time. I decided to make a simple puzzle toy for Meuw.

What you will need:
5 Toilet rolls
3 Pcs of A4 colored paper
2 Empty tissue boxes
A pair of scissors
Clear tape/ double sided tape
Marker

Step 1:
Cut out the top for both boxes

Step 2:
In one of the boxes, measure, draw and cut 5 holes for the toilet rolls (or follow whatever puzzle design you have in mind) at the bottom of the box.
TIP! Be extra careful not to have the holes too close to each other. Cut the holes slightly smaller and squeeze the toilet rolls in at the later step. Do not have the holes done too big, else the toy will not work at all.

Step 3:
Place one of the boxes into another. Top - with holes. Bottom - covered.

Step 4:
Wrap your box with colored paper tightly to beautify the toy. Stuff the toilet rolls into the holes.

Step 5:
Place small toys/ treats into the holes and have it faced up or to the side. Introduce your new homemade cat puzzle toy to your cat by placing the treat on top of the box and not in the hole first. After your cat is showing interest to the new cat puzzle toy, step up the difficulty of the game by placing the treat inside the holes.
Now he gets to exercise his mind and get rewarded at the same time!
Difficulty: 2/5
Time taken: 40 minutes
I love making DIY homemade cat toys because I can easily throw them away without feeling a pinch once it gets dirty and unhygenic. This is also a relatively safe toy and can be left out in the open for your cat to play anytime. There is no glue used so you do not have to worry about having your cat accidentally ingest harmful substances. Meuw is already very familiar with the toy and he will make his own little game with it. He will get his favourite toy into the hole then fish it out, battle with it for a while on the floor, bring it back into the hole and the cycle repeats again.
Have fun with this very simple DIY cat puzzle toy!
